Muhammed Marmaduke Pickthall, the famous turn-of-the-century British convert to Islam, spent many years subsequently in British India, and it was there, under the tutelage of the Nizam of Hyderabad that he undertook his translation of the Holy Qur’an, quite possibly the very first by a Muslim at that time.
